The first Hell in a Cell match doubles as the greatest of its kind. Nobody knew much what to expect when the concept was first introduced, and those moderate expectations gave way to an enthralling sight. Michaels has taken many beatings, but few as memorable as the cage-based clash.

And as great as the match was, the ending stands out the most.

Undertaker busted Michaels up to pay off their two-month war, knocking him from the side of the cage, and drawing blood through various metal-based means. That all took a backseat to the unveiling of Kane, finally confronting his older brother in perhaps the greatest character debut in WWE history.

The entire spectacle couldn't have set up the future of the era any better.
