10 Best WWE Moments That Have Ever Happened In Chicago

9. CM Punk Returns To Face Chris Jericho - Payback 2013

Of all the matches on last year€™s Payback Pay Per View (which was one of the best Pay Per Views of the year, in large part to the Chicago crowd), the one with the most intrigue was CM Punk facing Chris Jericho. Punk hadn€™t been seen on WWE television since the week after Wrestlemania where he began to speak about his Wrestlemania loss to the Undertaker before stopping, dropping the mic, hugging Paul Heyman and walking out. Throughout his three-month hiatus, Punk rarely mentioned professional wrestling on Twitter, opting instead to predominantly talk about the Chicago Blackhawks€™ run in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. So when Chris Jericho had Paul Heyman on his Highlight Reel and demanded a match with CM Punk at Payback, there was a lot of skepticism about Punk€™s status. Would he act as a babyface or a heel? If he€™s a babyface, will he have Heyman in his corner? Would he even show up? At Payback, those questions were quickly answered. Punk was back, as a babyface, and Heyman in his corner. During the excellent match with Jericho (who played heel with ease), Heyman tried to interfere, which seemed to agitate Punk. Despite the miscue, Punk defeated Jericho with two consecutive Go to Sleeps and celebrated with his hometown crowd. Punk even gave a shout-out to his beloved local hockey team during the match, screaming out €œHawks in 6!€ when he had Jericho on his shoulders for a Go 2 Sleep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNaYn7Xkovg The tension with Heyman led to a Punk/Heyman feud throughout 2013 and a match with Brock Lesnar at Summerslam, but for one night, all was right in Punk World. He soaked in the adulation from his Chicago faithful, triumphant.
