10 Best WWE Moments That Have Ever Happened In Chicago
8. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar - Extreme Rules 2012
The night after WrestleMania 28 was one of the more memorable of 2012 as it signaled the return of Brock Lesnar to the WWE after an eight-year absence. His immediate target was John Cena, whom he flattened with an F5. The stage was set for Cena and Lesnar to fight. The locale? Chicago. Extreme Rules 2012 featured the typical Wrestlemania rematches (Randy Orton vs. Kane, Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus, CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho), almost all of them being better-wrestled matches than their Wrestlemania predecessors (Bryan vs. Sheamus goes without saying). The show ended up being one of the best of the year, capped by the unique Cena vs. Lesnar match. The match was heavily influenced by Lesnars MMA style, which was out of John Cenas normal element of wrestling. While many expected Lesnar to come out on top, it was Cena who won the match with an Attitude Adjustment on the steel steps. It appeared as if Lesnar had legitimately injured Cenas arm in the match, and Cena cut a promo after the match where he said he might need time off (which never happened). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AgyyVQY36o Lesnar and Cena never met again, nor even acknowledged their match as they were immediately entered into new programs with Triple H and John Laurinaitis respectively. Their unique encounter was one of the Chicago matches to remember.
