6. Brian Pillman
WWE.comA man before his time, Brian Pillman made his first big mark over in WCW as one half of the Hollywood Blondes alongside a young (and not bald!) Steve Austin. After working WWE, WCW and ECW all against each other, he jumped between all three promotions to gain notoriety before ending up in the WWE. Vince allowed him a little more creative freedom to be himself on camera and thus, The Loose Cannon was born. His most famous feud in WWE was with a then-heel Steve Austin and included a segment in which Austin threatened to break into Pillman's home to get to him and in response, Pillman revealed that he was waiting for Austin with a gun in hand. The Loose Cannon clearly took home invasion very seriously. The segment courted massive controversy but even now, many other wrestlers include Austin himself acknowledge that Brian Pillman was ahead of the curve in the wrestling business. whenever he spoke, it was with the 'shoot' edge that has only just become popular very recently with the rise of guys like CM Punk. In the maniacal portrayal of 'The Loose Cannon' you can trace many of today's crazy characters back to him, most notably Dean Ambrose, who has been called a modern day Pillman. Unfortunately, Pillman died from substance abuse before he could really make his mark but we're pretty certain his atypical character and brilliant delivery, on par with some of the greatest of all time, would have made him bigger had he stuck around.
