10 Best WWE Stars To Compete In A Wrestling World Cup

7. Ghana €“ Kofi Kingston

Similar to Andre, Kofi is in a bracket of one. But, you know what, I like Kofi Kingston. He€™s one of the most underrated wrestlers of recent years. Born in Ghana in western Africa, his family moved to the United States when he was one. However, when he arrived on WWE television in 2007, he was billed as coming from Jamaica, and spoke with a thick Jamaican accent. While many pointed the finger at the ignorant WWE, Kofi had actually used the Jamaican gimmick, albeit as a heel, in independent promotions in the north east of the United States, calling himself Kofi Nahaje Kingston. The reason for this was that it was figured that most Americans would not have heard of Ghana (who are ironically playing the USA in this year€™s World Cup) but they would all have heard of Jamaica. However, the truth came out in the mainstream press, most notably an article on the BBC website in 2008 . Eventually, the WWE dropped the Jamaican gimmick (and the bad accent) and let Kofi just be Kofi. Billed from Ghana and talking in his normal voice, he could finally be himself. He€™s a man with enormous talent and great charisma. Kofi Kingston is a wrestler that fans have been itching to get behind for years, but just when he€™s building momentum, like when he was getting the better of a feud with headliner Randy Orton, the rug is pulled from under his feet and the hopes of the WWE Universe are scuppered. He is a great ambassador for the company and is always great value at public appearances. Kids love him, and adults love him. Unfortunately, the powers that be at Titan Towers don€™t seem to have the belief in him that the fans once did. He now seems to be in a similar role to the one Shelton Benjamin had previously for Money in the Bank matches: he does little of note but then breaks out an innovative spot to avoid elimination at the Royal Rumble which shows off his incredible balance, walking on his hands and taking huge leaps of faith to avoid having his feet touch the ground.
