There was an understated arrogance about Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns' collected approach to the future of Dean Ambrose just months before he left WWE to hit a hard reset on his entire career.

The pair are - occasionally to a fault - quintessential company men and were wrong to assume the same of their disgruntled and disappointed "brother" as he sat back and patiently waited for the end of his contract. Roman's leukemia recovery was the final straw; when the prospect of getting to work and ride with Reigns still wasn't enough, the duo knew their time as a trio was doomed. And so came the investment to make their last pay-per-view offering one of their very best.

With less than a fortnight to build to their "last" stand, the Ambrose babyface turn and final reunion for the 'Hounds Of Justice' highlighted just how much love the three had cultivated for their group. It's not been a decade for deep-rooted affection for characters in WWE (as evidenced by the mixed fortunes the three have experienced as solo stars) but fans, under no force, will always "believe in The Shield" regardless of their scattershot recent past and uncertain future.
