3. Chris Jericho Vs. Dolph Ziggler - 2012
Come on, it's Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler, two guys who never half-ass or give less than maximum effort, opening one of the biggest shows of the year. How could it not be good? Fact is, there aren't many guys who go out there and produce entertaining matches as regularly as these two stalwarts.
They had been feuding since the night after Money in the Bank, with guaranteed contract winner Ziggler deriding Y2J's performances and saying that he couldn't get it done on the big ones, leading to the two taking shots at each other in the subsequent weeks. The rivalry wasn't particularly intense, but there were definitely issues that needed to be resolved.
Their match was as good as you would imagine, with wily veteran Jericho schooling the cocky Show Off. Too many counters and big moves to name, but the execution of everything was spot-on, even if the commentators treating Jericho like he was some sort of underachieving scrub was a little grating.
Jericho finally won the 'big one' (yeah, OK Michael Cole) by forcing Ziggler to tap out to the Walls of Jericho/Lion Tamer. The next night on Raw, Ziggler evened things up in a match with Jericho's 'WWE contract' on the line.
