10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2020

SummerSlam 2020 already has a lot of potential issues, here are some of our worries.

We all want SummerSlam to be good. There’s no fun in a Big 4 Four pay-per-view being disappointing, especially in such a tough time for the world.

The show is not absent of things to be excited about. The Hair vs Hair match with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose has been well-built and is giving a spotlight to two workers who have never gotten a big PPV contest, the Randy Orton/Drew McIntyre main event feels like a big deal that can sell a show to an audience, even the insane Dominik Mysterio/Seth Rollins feud is something to look forward to.

But it’s hard to deny that the show feels very thrown together and underdeveloped, and there are a lot of questionable elements already in play from the last few weeks of television. WWE has an inconsistent track record, to say the least, since the permanent move to the Performance Centre, and there’s a lot of large concerns that many fans are experiencing right now.

Hopefully the show succeeds like WrestleMania 36, surpassing expectations to make for a fun viewing experience, but for now, these concerns are more than justified...

10. Asuka Vs. Sasha Banks Could Get Overbooked Again

Asuka and Sasha Banks are two of the greatest wrestlers in the world. They have remarkable in ring chemistry, with Asuka’s brutal offence contrasting perfectly with Sasha’s ragdoll bumping, and are more than capable of putting on a 20-minute classic with each other.

WWE’s need to over-complicate sadly came into the equation with a narratively simple result at Extreme Rules (Asuka retaining leading into Sasha and Bayley feuding) being transformed into a confusing non-finish where no one knew who was champion. Then on Raw, Sasha won the belt officially by count-out after a backstage attack on Kairi Sane, leaving everyone pretty confused despite intense admiration for 'The Boss.'

It seems likely that due to the additional Asuka match with Bayley at SummerSlam, that their Raw Women’s Title rematch is going to suffer heavily with some interference and confounding creative choices. It is so simple to get it right, just let them do their thing! Instead of anticipation for a rematch at the second biggest show of the year, most fans are feeling dread over how WWE might mess it up this time.
