There are a lot of people who currently don’t have anything concrete to do at SummerSlam, but if WWE fails to book Daniel Bryan on the show for the second year in a row, they’re absolutely washed. Bryan is perhaps the best wrestler in the world, capable of working a great match with anyone and since his return in 2018, there’s a vitality in every single performance of his.

It is unreal that WWE doesn’t capitalise on his star power and wrestling ingenuity all the time, with his presence being minimal throughout the pandemic asides from fantastic matches with Drew Gulak and AJ Styles. If he doesn’t get booked against an opponent he can do something great with, it’ll be deeply disappointing.

However, Bryan is a new father. If he doesn’t make it, it’ll be disappointing but understandable, he’s got a baby and a wife to prioritise right now. But stars like Naomi, Aleister Black, Sheamus, Big E, Chad Gable, Drew Gulak, John Morrison, Jeff Hardy etc, all not having anything concrete yet is absolutely maddening, and it’s unlikely that a lot of them will get onto the show.

The roster is not deep enough right now for so many talented workers to be left on the shelf, these talents deserve their time in the sun.
