10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE WrestleMania Backlash
2. Roman Reigns Runs Through Cesaro
Would they?
From the moment Cesaro pinned Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 37, he was immediately pinpointed as Roman Reigns' next Universal Championship challenger. The former Claudio Castagnoli backed this up with a further win over Rollins on the recent Throwback Edition of SmackDown, as well as Reigns' cousin Jey Uso. He's being set up for a standout showing vs. 'The Tribal Chief'.
But what if WWE decide they aren't going all in on this Cesaro push? There's no way he's winning the title, as Roman's career-defining reign as champion shouldn't end at WrestleMania Backlash of all places, but Cesaro should still give a valiant performance on Sunday. Instead, though, WWE could simply go back on all the work they've done on Cesaro in recent weeks by having Reigns run through 'The Swiss Superman' in a matter of minutes.
After all, Roman will have Paul Heyman and now both Jey and Jimmy Uso in his corner, while Seth Rollins still has unfinished business with Cesaro. The plot is there for Cesaro to be squashed, and it's hardly unique of WWE to squander a Cesaro push since it's the only consistent thing they've done with the guy since 2012.
For Cesaro to legitimately be seen as a top-level guy in WWE, however, he has to go at least fifteen minutes against Roman.
