8. Misusing The Knockouts

WWE’s Women’s Revolution has really pushed women’s wrestling to the forefront, but TNA had a great women’s division long before Vince McMahon’s company. Where WWE’s division was once full of performers who didn’t know a suplex from a snapmare, TNA’s Knockouts scene boasted the likes of Awesome King and Gail Kim. Time saw the division slowly erode, but for a while, no company was doing more from women’s wrestling than TNA.

There’s huge potential for a revival in 2017. In wrestlers like Jade, Sienna, and Allie, TNA have an extremely talented group of Knockouts that can’t rival WWE’s women for star power, but can absolutely match them in the ring. The division is deep and rich in talent, and with Dutch Mantel’s booking prowess once again behind them, they’ll really help put TNA back on the map this year.

2016 proved that it’s no longer enough to have an “okay” women’s division. WWE’s women have raised the bar to great new heights, and any company that promotes women’s wrestling must now match this level if they’re to be taken seriously. TNA have the talent, and it’s just a matter of putting the pieces together, and avoiding disasters like last year’s Shelley Martinez vs. Rebel match (seriously, look it up).
