10 Big Mistakes WWE Can't Afford To Make With Survivor Series 2016
9. Keep The Cruiserweights On Raw
Last week’s SmackDown not only brought the announcement that Kalisto will challenge for Brian Kendrick’s Cruiserweight Title at Survivor Series, but if he wins, the whole division’s coming to Tuesday nights. It’s huge news for a division that has struggled for popularity since the Cruiserweight Classic, and if Kalisto wins, it’ll bring the first major roster reshuffle of the new Brand Split era.
WWE might be tempted to have Kendrick win and embark on a long title reign here, but that’d be a gigantic mistake. The Cruiserweights are given two basic, listless matches every week, and outside of the title scene, nobody’s allowed even a slither of character development. They’re lost at sea on the red brand, and while there’s no guarantee a change in scenery will turn things around, there’s the small matter of 205 Live to consider.
The Cruiserweights-only show will kick-off on November 29th. Taking place immediately after SmackDown, it’d make perfect sense for the Cruisers to appear on this show as SD wrestlers, rather than jumping back and forth between brands every Tuesday night. If 205 Live was taking place on a Monday then by all means, have Kendrick win, but as it’s airing on a Tuesday, Kalisto’s victory is the only thing that makes sense here.
