Kane's return on Sunday night drew a mixed response. It was nice to see the masked version of the giant back - especially as his corporate gimmick had become even blander than originally intended - but he's hardly the most exciting follow-up contender for Seth Rollins' WWE Championship. It was therefore infuriating to see "Director of Operations" Kane back on Raw, suited up and maskless, playing nice with Triple H and Stephanie like nothing had happened. Sure, he donned the mask again later in the show (more on that in a sec), but there's no need for this bizarre ambiguity to continue. It seems as though Kane's antics were supposed to come across as mind games, but with the audience just as confused as Rollins himself, it would have been far more straightforward to simply bring back the Big Red Machine.
