Raw was bookended this week by the Austin-lite antics of Sting, who infuriated the champ by pushing his beloved statue into a garbage truck. Wacky acts of destruction have long been the modus operandi of babyfaces looking to get a mental edge over a heel champion, but did Sting's take on the old formula serve any real purpose? 'The Vigilante' enjoyed his most iconic days as the nWo's nemesis, a quiet, sinister figure who would send the heels scurrying in terror after dropping from the rafters or brandishing his baseball bat. The WWE's current incarnation of Sting seems a lot more similar to the gimmick he had towards the end of his TNA run, an over-the-top, "crazy" character in the mould of Heath Ledger's Joker. This can't be the best way to push Sting as a threat. He has enough of a legacy to be portrayed as an Undertaker-esque figure, intimidating enough due to his history and aura, instead of having to resort to childish pranks.
