10 Big Questions From WWE SmackDown (July 30)

7. Is The Rusev Angle The Worst Of 2015?

Following on from the ridiculously fishy happenings on RAW, Rusev was back talking nonsense on SmackDown before his win over Jack Swagger. From his lovelorn moping over Lana, to hobbling around on crutches, to his weekly gibbering into a microphone, the question must be asked: is this angle, hands down, the absolute worst thing we'll see in WWE this year?

It's difficult to imagine anything plumbing lower depths than this. Even the antics of a cross-dressing Miz are a very distant second, and the mind boggles as to why WWE would spend so much time and effort in the run-up to Wrestlemania XXXI establishing Rusev as a monster, only to reduce him to the joke that he is now.

Surely someone else could have replaced Santino Marella? For once the Bulgarian Brute turns face, as all comedy heels eventually do, that's exactly who he'll be. A tougher Santino, granted. But still Santino.

As a long-time WWE fan, I have always enjoyed watching men pretend to beat each other up while wearing spandex. Extra points for facepaint, none for tassels. I love all things sci-fi. If there's a 'Star' somewhere in the title, I'll probably dig it. I'm a huge football fan too. For my sins, I support Manchester United.
