10 Biggest AEW Scandals
2. No Sensitivity
#SpeakingOut swept through all of professional wrestling. AEW was no different.
Jimmy Havoc was released following his suspension, and there are two performers who continue to feature on television - one of them in a very prominent position - the allegations against whom haven't been transparently resolved. For reasons that should be obvious, this list cannot delve into those details, but the promotion has drawn controversy for comments made on public record.
Sammy Guevara was caught making some horrendously unsavoury remarks towards Sasha Banks, for which he apologised, was suspended, and ordered to undergo sensitivity training. Max Caster uttered something similarly repulsive earlier this year, and that his comments made it to television was a disgraceful indictment of the company's trumpeted creative control. Caster intimated that COVID-19 was a hoax and invoked sexual assault as a punchline. He too was suspended, but Khan's explanation - that he hadn't previously but would edit Dark going forward - was questionable. The punishment was sufficiently severe, it should be noted. AEW is, relatively, the babyface promotion.
But the curve against which that is measured should not be an excuse.
