10 Biggest Career Hangovers In WrestleMania History
8. The Miz (After WrestleMania XXVII)
To this day, one of the most questionable decisions in the eyes of many fans was WWE putting the World Title on the Miz. He won the title from Randy Orton after cashing in his Money in the Bank Briefcase against Randy Orton in late 2010, and main-evented WrestleMania against John Cena. This showed that WWEs higher-ups had a lot of faith in him, but unfortunately, his victory in the main event was overshadowed by the growing rivalry between challenger John Cena and WrestleMania host the Rock. Perhaps this was a key part of his booking, because after WrestleMania XXVII, his stock took a nosedive. He lost the WWE Championship to John Cena at Extreme Rules 2011, just shy of a month after his victory in the main event of WrestleMania. Afterwards, he remained in the title picture, but despite taking part in high-profile matches against the likes of Alberto del Rio and CM Punk, whatever WWE management saw in the Miz before and during his World Title reign was no longer there. In the months (and years) that have followed, Miz has reverted to being portrayed as a joke of a character. He has engaged in random feuds and has enjoyed a few reigns as Intercontinental Champion, but the sad reality is that he got stuck in mid-card purgatory once again. He has been part of many embarrassing or otherwise stupid segments, which has led many a fan to shake their heads and think, that guy was once WWE Champion. These days, Miz is playing up the gimmick of a Hollywood A-Lister, despite his films being direct-to-video. While its absolutely corny, maybe it might make a more relevant star out of him once again (or, more likely, itll make a bigger star out of Damien Mizdow).
