10 Biggest Career Hangovers In WrestleMania History

3. The Undertaker (WrestleMania 23-27)

Despite having numerous accomplishments, great matches, and historic moments throughout the calendar year, the most important time of the year for the Undertaker has been WrestleMania season (with the notable exception of this year). Ever since WrestleMania 21 or so, The Streak has been a key selling point for the event, and WWE would often go to great lengths in telling some great stories in building up €˜Taker€™s matches. However, once WrestleMania ended, things would really go downhill for the Deadman. After winning the World Heavyweight Championship at both WrestleMania 23 and XXIV, €˜Taker€™s reigns ended less than 40 days afterwards. One was due to him suffering an injury, and the other was for storyline purposes in his continuing feud with Edge. These really look like low points, especially when you consider how good both of those Undertaker matches were. Furthermore, while €˜Taker€™s feud with Edge in 2008 was great, it seemed like his title reign was completely insignificant, as he would only have 1 successful title defense before the belt was back around Edge€™s waist. After WrestleMania XXV, Undertaker was a fully-established part-timer, leaving for extended periods of time and barely being seen, if at all, until the following year. It€™s a rather unfortunate pattern that highlights Undertaker€™s body wearing down, and how his retirement is approaching faster than fans would want. So while it€™s true that the Undertaker has reached the point where his appearance is deemed a €˜special attraction€™, between WrestleMania 23 and 27, he really didn€™t have a lot of good fortune once the biggest show of the year was over.
