Not yet known as Stone Cold, Steve Austin was left frustrated and angry as he was fired over the phone by WCW supremo Eric Bischoff. Injured and unemployed, Austin received a phone call from ECW's Paul Heyman about coming in and doing some promo work until his injury healed. Little did he know that these promos would enable him to showcase his talents so much that the origins of the Stone Cold character can be seen as far back as 1995, making WWE's decision to bring him into the company as The Ringmaster all the more baffling. Austin would forever rant and rave about how he was the wrestler with the most potential to become the leading star in the world, but a load of false promises and rejections had held him back. Of course, everyone thought he was just being bitter, but as we all know now, he was talking nothing but the truth.
