10 Biggest Main Events In WWE SmackDown History
8. Edge Vs. Dolph Ziggler (18 February 2011)
WWE celebrated the 600th episode of SmackDown in February 2011 by heading to San Diego, a night that began inauspiciously with Vickie Guerrero awarding the World Heavyweight Championship to Dolph Ziggler at the top of the show.
But Theodore Long had other plans, and for once they didn't involve a tag team match. He gave Edge the opportunity to crown a true champion in the night's main event, with the Rated-R Superstar sealing his last ever world title reign by spearing Dolph Ziggler for a quick three count.
At three minutes long, this one isn't going to appear in any top 10 match lists. It was less about its quality than it was its drama, capping off the Vickie-Edge storyline with the crowd joining the newly-crowned champion in a rendition of "Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye".
Given what we now know - that Edge would, in a few months' time, be forced into a tear-jerking neck injury-enforced retirement - this one takes on renewed significance, making it one of the biggest main events in SmackDown before or since.
