10 Biggest Main Events In WWE SmackDown History
6. Christian Vs. Randy Orton (6 May 2011)
Randy Orton led the calls earlier this year for Christian to get back to the ring one last time, and it was matches like this one that the 'Viper' had in mind.
In a bout set up by Theodore Long, the Peep's Champion would be defending the belt he won days earlier against Alberto Del Rio at Extreme Rules. His opponent was, for some reason, Randy Orton, and not Mark Henry or The Great Khali, who also saw themselves as deserving of the opportunity.
At the time, fans were furious at the decision for Christian's title reign to be cut short so quickly, but in retrospect it was a sound booking call. Orton winning meant that the feud could be stretched out over the next three months, both men trading victories before the latter finally emerged the victor at SummerSlam in August.
That, along with the fact that it was a genuinely good match (made more impressive by the fact that both were in hardcore action 48 hours prior), makes this one of SmackDown's biggest and best ever main events. Over to you, AJ and Jinder.
