10 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Draft 2016

4. Sending Carmella Out On Her Own

Enzo & Big Cass have been vital to Carmella’s act since the inception. Debuting in NXT as a former hair stylist who lost her job when Enzo & Cass dropped a vat of hair removal cream on a customer’s dog (yes, really), Carmella became an ever-present alongside the beloved duo. Her “Princess of Staten Island” character draws heavily from Enzo in particular, and while she’s yet to perfect the act, Carmella was a welcome addition to the crew.

The trio were split-up with Enzo & Cass’ post-WrestleMania promotion to the main roster, but Carmella kept grinding towards the NXT Women’s Championship. She missed-out on her opportunity after losing a triple-threat match with Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss, but Carmella was still learning her trade, and looked set for at least another half-year in developmental.

Regardless of whether or not her progress warrants a shot on the main roster, WWE have made a mistake in bringing her to SmackDown with Enzo & Cass working on Raw. The trio work well together, and Carmella has struggled for traction since going solo in NXT. WWE are only diminishing her chances of long-term success by not attaching her to Enzo & Cass’ immense popularity early-on.
