10 Biggest Mysteries In The Secret War Between AEW And CM Punk

3. Is CM Punk A Full-Blown Fantasist?

Mystery:

You'll have probably read the expression "If you see an a**hole in the morning, you've seen an a**hole. If you see a**holes all day, you're the a**hole" more than once, in connection with this saga, since September 4, 2022.

Is CM Punk the a**hole?

Is his grasp of reality...fluid?

Is it one rule for him, and another rule for everybody else?

According to Wade Keller's most recent reporting, the man currently has heat with the Elite, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, MJF, and a considerable number of talents in the AEW locker room. He has seen more than one a**hole in the morning.

On the now-deleted Instagram story, he alleged that Mox refused to do a job for him. Punk wrote this as if bemused by the very idea that somebody who wasn't a relic from the '80s could still pull this stunt. After all, as he said in the presser, it's everybody's job to elevate each other, to pass the torch.

"I'd never experienced someone refusing to lose to me. I just laughed," he wrote.

Voices of Wrestling reported in August - and remember, as with the whole thing, this is only from the perspective of a few unnamed sources who may in fact have an agenda - that Punk raged backstage following the "worker's rights" promo and told people that he'd never do a job for Hangman Page.

This, if true, is very hypocritical.

Moreover - and again, there's no way of knowing the precise truth of the matter - Punk, per a post made by Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter board, sent a legal letter to AEW stating that he would not agree to the Mox squash idea and only did it because Tony Khan "put his foot down".

This (if true!) is irreconcilable with Punk's insinuation on Instagram that it's as easy as getting dragged into an office and squashing his beef with the Elite in one day, just like Jerry Lawler did with "Gator and Koko".

Theory:

Until all of the facts emerge, it is impossible to say one way or another if Punk is a fantasist or even a narcissist - but he seems exceedingly difficult to do business with.
