10 Biggest Power Trips In WWE History

1. The McMahon Family Dominate The 'WCW/ECW' Invasion

When the then-WWF purchased WCW in 2001, there was a lot of excitement in the pro wrestling community. Finally, fans would get to see huge matches such as Sting vs. The Undertaker, Goldberg vs. Steve Austin and Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock. As it turned out, people would get one of those matches, but only much later and not during the whole 'Invasion' angle the WWF had planned. Admittedly, many of the top WCW stars were happy to sit and collect on bumper contracts left over with AOL/Time Warner. This made it difficult for the WWF to secure them, but that doesn't excuse Vince McMahon for making one of the biggest storylines ever all about his ongoing family soap opera. The McMahon family had dominated screens for the past few years, and now they were a focal point of the 'Invasion'. Shane McMahon was installed as the new 'owner' of WCW, and fans were informed that Stephanie McMahon was now in charge of ECW. This, along with the poor treatment of the actual WCW stars who did come in (Booker T, DDP etc) told fans that WCW/ECW wasn't big or strong enough to face the might of the WWF all on their own.
