10 Biggest Pro Wrestling Debates

5. Did Hogan "Make" McMahon, Or Did McMahon "Make" Hogan?

This is one of those debates that actually played out on television as a part of a storyline. In 2003, Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan were feuding, leading up to a match between them at WrestleMania 19. The main part of the feud was Vince McMahon saying that, without him, there would be no Hulk Hogan or Hulkamania. Hogan, in response, said that there would be no Vince McMahon and the WWF without Hulkamania carrying the company to heights never seen before. It's an interesting argument, when you really think about it. Hogan did come along and help take the company to insane heights, having both Rock-N-Wrestling and WrestleMania built around his larger-than-life persona. How much of that was because of Hogan, and how much of that was due to what many saw as the creative and marketing genius of McMahon? To look at it, you have to go to the extremes and think of it like Hogan never signed with the WWF in 1983. With no Hogan, could the WWF have been strong enough to make WrestleMania a success? Sure, there were plenty of talented workers on the roster, but nobody could match Hogan's showmanship and charisma. If you remember, WrestleMania was Vince's "all in", where he could have lost everything if it didn't succeed. On the other hand, what would we know of Hulk Hogan today if he never went to the WWF? He was a big star for the American Wrestling Association, and would have kept them in business had he stuck around, but without the proper marketing, would he have become even a fraction of the star that he became? Hollywood had already come calling, but would the AWA have been enough to keep him from going to Hollywood for good? A whole lot of questions that will never be able to be answered, but are fun to ask nonetheless.
