10 Biggest Problems Facing WWE Creative At The Moment

8. Differentiating SmackDown's Women

No division has suffered more from WWE’s desperation to cram as much of their bloated roster on-screen at the same time as SmackDown’s women. The brand has built only a handful of singles feuds since Elimination Chamber back in March, with the women bouncing from one paper thin, hastily assembled group storyline to the next ever since.

At WrestleMania 33, the women fought in a five-minute, six-pack challenge for the belt. They then competed in a three-on-three match at Backlash, and while Lana will challenge for Naomi’s title at Money In The Bank, the rest of the division will be preoccupied in the ladder match. SmackDown have stifled their potential to stand-out as individuals by only having them appear on-screen all at once, and the result is an uninteresting, tier-less division with little differentiation between wrestlers.

Creative must find a way to ditch these booking habits, as the likes of Becky Lynch and Charlotte no longer feel special among their peers. MITB should hopefully provide a step in the right direction, but this division was once one of SmackDown’s biggest highlights, and it’s time to get back to telling focused stories again, rather than trying to cram as many people into one shot as possible.
