When Shane McMahon shockingly left WWE at the onset of 2010 to explore other endeavors, it was under the assumption that he would be back at some point. Besides, he is the son of the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and he didn't depart on bad terms. It was more a matter of when and not if, though it would need to have been under the right storyline circumstances.

Well, that perfect opportunity presented itself the night after February's Fastlane pay-per-view when Vince and Stephanie were greeted with a familiar sound: Shane McMahon's electric entrance music. The entire arena shook as Shane stepped inside the ring for the first time in nearly seven years, standing face-to-face with his family in what was a monumental moment.

Although he was back to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32, his wrestling return became more than just a one-off. Despite his defeat to 'Taker, he resurfaced on Raw the very next night and stuck around as an authority figure for the flagship show. He was then appointed the SmackDown Live Commissioner in July once the Brand Split was brought back.

Although the length of his current contract is unknown, it does look like he will be around for a while to come. And that's a good thing. A very, very good thing.
