10 Biggest Underachievers In WWE History

1. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre had been performing across Britain for six years before he made it to WWE. He, along with Sheamus, were viewed as the country's two hottest prospects. He toiled further in various WWE developmental territories between 2007 and 2009 before debuting on WWE TV proper in August of that year. After a few routine victories on Smackdown, McIntyre was introduced as a 'Future World Champion' by Vince McMahon himself on the September 25th show. It was official; McIntyre was 'The Chosen One'. How could he fail with Vince McMahon's endorsement and the writing team behind him? Quite easily, as it turned out. Despite an Intercontinental Championship victory and winning streak, McIntyre failed to make a sustained connection in the role. His winning streak was decisively ended by The Undertaker and he went back to feuding with the Kofi Kingston's of the world. After a tenure on Superstars, McIntyre was given a new lease on life as a member of 3MB. Even though it was clearly a comedy gimmick with a limited shelf life, McIntyre made the most of it. It was a far cry from where most, including himself, thought he would end up, however. McIntyre should have been a multiple time WWE Champion, ala Sheamus. Instead he was playing second fiddle to Heath Slater.
