10 Biggest Unsung Wrestling Heroes Of 2020

3. Eric Young - Impact

IMPACT Wrestling

After a promising start in NXT as the leader of Sanity, Eric Young, a talented, charismatic veteran, was treated as complete non-entity on Raw and Smackdown, sporadically appearing as jobber to the stars when he wasn’t picking up paychecks and smoking cigars at home.

On 15 April 2020, Young was fired by WWE, and within months he arrived at Impact Wrestling with an unhinged intensity, winning the World Championship within weeks. Impact, clearly realising the performer’s worth, had him demolish most of their roster, holding court in the ring while battering wrestlers past a level and duration of comfortability.

By instantly placing Young at the very top of their main event scene, Impact secured a perfect foil for Rich Swann. As the unstable Young viciously attacked Swann’s leg at July’s Slammiversary, the feud built naturally towards an excellent match at the company’s centrepiece show, Bound For Glory. This was wrestling at its most simple and effective, with the top face beating the top heel after a long period of heat building, and both performers left the ring as stars. Young is currently doing some of the best work of his career and seems destined to improve Impact with his passionate and explosive energy well into 2021.
