Vince McMahon is known for his ambition. He's a risk taker, a pioneer, a hugely successful promoter, who has succeeded because he had the nerve to take risks. But you don't get a reputation for taking risks without many of those risk blowing up in your face and that's exactly what has happened. Vince McMahon may be the most successful wrestling promoter of all time, but he has failed in every non wrestling medium he has ever attempted. Bodybuilding, football, restaurants, movies, they've all flopped. Now Vince is tackling the digital media platform, much the same way he took advantage of the Pay Per View business in the 80s, and the way his father capitalized on the rise of television. Unfortunately he may have overestimated his audience. Digital streaming is great, and it is becoming increasingly popular. But for now the majority of audiences are happy enough with television and traditional Pay Per View, and while Vince was right to get on board the digital bandwagon, gambling the entire future of his company on it, may be getting way too far ahead of himself. This has been an enormous blunder for the Chairman. It could also be the biggest sign that he truly has no idea what his audience wants anymore. As he approaches his 70th birthday next year, he has to find a way to fix this, or he may retire with the Network forever remembered as his final and and most epic fail.
As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG.
I may have a problem!
But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
