10 Biggest Winners From SummerSlam 2015
Seth Rollins is now carrying A LOT of gold.
WWE has tried their best to make SummerSlam 2015 way more important than the average monthly special. They extended the show by an extra hour and even repeatedly claimed that the main event match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker was "Too Big For WrestleMania." That's some pretty big shoes to fill.
Now that it's all in the books, there are some mixed reactions on the more important moments of the show. Both of the top matches had less than clean finishes, although that was to be expected. Some of the rumored big stars that could've made an appearance didn't, but the ones that were there did pretty good for themselves.
This show was a mixed bag, but plenty of individuals can walk away from this event with their heads held high. They are the winners of the night, whether by actually winning a professional wrestling contest or in the non-literal sense. Some people just had a good night that needs recognized.
Ten people or groups have been spotlighted from WWE's biggest party of the summer. I will mention that one match, the Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev bout, did not get highlighted in this article. Both guys were double DQ'ed and no real plot progression was gifted to them. Try as I might, I just can't argue that either of them were winners on this night.
10. Sheamus
I wonder if Sheamus and Randy Orton grumble at the uphill battle they most likely face with the crowds every time they wrestle with each other.
The rowdy bunch in the Barclays Center gave Sheamus a round of "You Look Stupid," and he was ready for that. He went to the outside and grabbed a mic, telling everyone that they were in fact the stupid ones. It was childish fun. There were other chants like "How You Doing" and "Ole" from the audience who was more than prepared to hijack this opener, but those were ignored.
Thankfully, this match found a pace that worked for these guys. Orton got busted up on his forehead, which added a little intrigue. Sheamus even stopped his 10 Beats of the Bodhrán midway through just because he didn't like letting the fans count along with him. That was a good heel moment.
To balance out the win Orton scored over Sheamus at last month's Battleground, Sheamus was able to get the clean pin after two consecutive Brogue Kicks. It's good that the Money in the Bank briefcase holder is still allowed to win every once in a while.
As far as his briefcase goes, he didn't cash in on this night.
