1. Daniel Bryan - 2014
All of the roadblocks on this list changed WrestleMania drastically, but only one changed the entire thrust of what the show was supposed to be. Heading into 2014, Daniel Bryan was the most popular superstar on the WWE roster, but as far as the company was concerned, he'd already had his flirtation with the main event. Bryan's title win at SummerSlam 2013 and subsequent feud with Randy Orton was meant to kill time while John Cena was out with an injury, and after Orton defeated Bryan once and for all, The Yes! Man was meant to rest comfortably in the upper-midcard. The fans wouldn't have it. They vociferously supported Bryan at every turn and destroyed every attempt to push someone else. When Batista came back and won the Royal Rumble, it made for a particularly angry crowd and an especially awkward moment. WWE still planned on delivering Batista versus Randy Orton at WrestleMania XXX, but when it became increasingly clear that fans would have no part of it, they had to add Bryan to the contest. They booked him in a WrestleMania match with Triple H, where the winner would advance to the main event. Bryan beat "The Game," then won the triple threat match for the title. Daniel Bryan became the ultimate WrestleMania roadblock, but he wasn't alone - the WWE Universe was right behind him.
