10. The Princess Bride (1987) - $30,857,814

Featuring: Andre The Giant

In 1986, Stand By Me hit cinemas in the US and director Rob Reiner was the talk of the town having already made the iconic This Is Spinal Tap and the excellent The Sure Thing. Inevitably, his follow up in 1987, The Princess Bride, then had the unenviable task of living up to the coming of age drama that was getting rave reviews. So Reiner signed on to direct an adaptation of William Goldman€™s 1973 novel, The Princess Bride.

The fantasy film involved a young woman named Buttercup reluctantly agreeing to marry Prince Humperdink but before the big day she ends up kidnapped by a band of villains, one of whom happens to be played by Andre The Giant. Andre played the giant Fezzik who eventually turns babyface and helps Buttercup ride off into the sunset with her handsome suitor.

Andre made a handful of TV and movie appearances but always maintained this as his favourite. His casting was a stroke of genius as he not only fit the role of the Giant but he was a main eventer at the time in the WWF so the national exposure helped the movie and the company. It also helped buid him a cult following that lasted long past his sad passing in 1993.
