10 Biggest WTF Moments In WWE SummerSlam History
5. Mean F'n Gene
I didn't think Mean Gene Okerlund was capable of such profanity ahead of SummerSlam 1989, but that all changed with one sign merely falling off a wall.
We all know Gene as the clean cut snappy announcer, but he turned into one badass motherf***er in the moments before in an interview WWF Intercontinental Champion Rick Rude and manager Bobby Heenan.
Cue the SummerSlam backdrop to fall from the wall.
A shocked Okerlund turned around and exclaimed "F*ck it!", along with some criticism for the WWE's handymen who installed the sign.
The production team, no doubt panicking at what had just happened, cut the cameras away to a live shot of the crowd and left Tony Schiavone and Jesse Ventura to pick up the pieces.
Okerlund confessed in a shoot interview that the wrong tape was aired live on the show as the real interview with Rude was taped beforehand.
I bet Gene is one naughty bastard in real life, you know. Rather than living the life of Archie The Inventor from Balamory, I reckon he's the sort of mad man cut from the same cloth as Keith Moon. Drugs, ladies, the lot. Filth.
