10 Biggest WWE House Show Matches Ever
1. Bob Backlund Vs. Diesel - WWF House Show 24/11/94
Before Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura's NXT Championship wins at house shows in 2016, this was the last time the WWF Championship, a top tier title, changed hands when the cameras weren't rolling.
Diesel's Jackknife Powerbombed Bob Backlund to win his first major singles title just three days after Mr Backlund had taken the title from Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1994 - and it only took eight seconds for him to do so. With Vince McMahon protecting The Hitman, Backlund was used as a placeholder to get the title on the seven-footer's shoulder.
Backlund was simply too old to be the face of McMahon's New Generation while Big Daddy Cool was earmarked as the man to lead the WWF out of the early '90s slump as competition in the form of WCW started to grow. He'd enjoy a 358-day run with the title, all set up by a mid-card match at a house show. Madness.
