This angle was embrace the hate 2.0. The WWE have a terrible habit of debuting monster heels, having them work their way to the top before falling at the feet of John Cena.

It's what happened to Umaga, The Nexus, it's happening to Rusev, and it happened to Bray Wyatt.

Wyatt was, and still is in a diminished capacity, a truly awesome new talent. He was fascinatingly weird and had just put on two match of the year 2014 candidates in quick succession, one against Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble, and one against the Shield at Elimination Chamber.

Then he was set to face Cena at Wrestlemania 30. His motivations were forcing John to accept the darkness at his heart, and reveal himself as a liar for all the world to see. He wanted to corrupt Cena's legacy. Cena beat him clean.

But what if he hadn't? What if Wyatt had recruited John Cena to form a Wyatt coalition? What if John Cena had attempted to grow a beard?! There's no telling just how powerful Wyatt would be if the WWE had actually pulled the trigger and let him start actually recruiting people, which he had failed at twice before. With Cena in his stable, he would be nigh unstoppable today.
