10 Biggest WWE Pay-Per-View Disappointments

2. Eddie Guerrero Vs Rey Mysterio (WrestleMania 21)

A famously frustrating opener between the lifelong allies, Mysterio and Guerrero promised big things with their first high profile WWE clash following legendary contests in WCW years earlier.

The two had only become more polished as performers since then, and an uneasy tension between the best friends provided a thin veneer of competitiveness required to push the battle over the line.

However, whilst passable, the two noticeably failed to click in ways they had previously, particularly thanks to Mysterio's endless struggling with a new mask he'd had made specifically for the match.

His fumbling with the facial apparatus was a constant distraction as a viewer, let alone for both performers trying to tell a nuanced story around trademark highspots, especially when Rey attempted to re-adjust it whilst selling the supposed agony Eddie had put him in.

Rey's eventual victory triggered a series of events that lead to an excellent feud between the two that sprawled numerous pay-per-views and a dynamic final heel turn for Eddie before his untimely November death. That this underwhelming match with his best friend subsequently became his last WrestleMania match remains bittersweet.
