When they were first introduced to our screens in the late 1990s, Edge and Christian were billed as a pair of brothers, performing first as part of the Gangrel-headed Brood before breaking out in their own right as sarcastic goofballs.

Lazy though it seems, this actually made perfect sense. They were both Canadian, they both had long blonde hair, and they spent much of their time fighting other sibling stables like the Hardys and the Dudleys (the latter of whom were definitely related too).

But at some point in the mid-2000s, this back story was ditched entirely. Instead, we were told that the duo were merely childhood friends, who happened to break into the industry at precisely the same time and form an enduring in-ring partnership.

Rewriting history like this doesn't really work in the internet age though. We can go back and watch the footage. These two weren't just billed as being so close as to be like family, but actual family. What happened exactly? Advances in DNA testing?
