Everyone knows the drill by now: Wrestler A wins the Rumble, celebrates amidst much fanfare, a bit of pyro and maybe even a little confetti, then the cameras make sure to catch them pointing at the big neon WrestleMania sign. It's become WWE's go-to way of ending the pay-per-view, and it's a shot the company can show multiple times during the 'Mania build.

It didn't start until 2007.

Despite instigating a cringeworthy tradition, 'Taker's sign-pointing was entirely incidental, inadvertently aiming his gloved digits signwards during his traditional post-victory pose. WWE realised it was a cracking visual, and had the Deadman repeat the trick more explicitly in the coming weeks. We're stuck with it now; every Rumble winner since has aimed finger pistols at the big banner.
