1. Monday Night War

It’s been covered ad nauseam, but fans are still interested in the war between WCW and WWE. Although there is an episodic documentary on the WWE Network, the topic has never been covered like a television series. There are so many major players that would attract mainstream attention, from Ted Turner to Dennis Rodman to Mike Tyson, and dozens of top wrestling names to lure lapsed fans into watching.

It’s a fascinating time period for non-wrestling aspects: it was right before the internet and on-demand programming affected TV ratings, the P.C. police hadn’t yet censored media, and a monopoly on sports-entertainment resulted. For wrestling fans, the content would take them back to a time of unpredictability, when you never knew who would jump from Raw to Nitro, or vice versa.

The Monday Night War was the pinnacle of pro wrestling in America, both financially and culturally, and deserves recognition from those outside the wrasslin’ bubble.
