10 Most Blatantly Obvious Blade Jobs In Wrestling History

4. CM Punk

The most recent entry on this list is particularly interesting because it occurred during a time when blading was banned by WWE. That certainly didn't stop then-WWE Champion CM Punk from seemingly pulling a blade and slicing himself in a steel cage match with Jerry "The King" Lawler live on Raw. From the clip above, it's pretty clear that Punk makes the cut at 11:31 (unless he had an itch on his forehead that he just had to scratch) and then passes the blade to Referee Charles Robinson at 11:35. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wm6wH36wig What's unclear is why he wasn't fined, suspended, or in any way punished for such an obvious blade job. As WWE Champion, did he have enough influence backstage to flout the rules? Did he convince the powers that be that he was busted open the hard way? If so, were Robinson and Lawler in on it and willing to lie on Punk's behalf? Or did WWE make a one-time exception to its own rule? Considering how obvious this blade job was, we'll chuck this one up to WWE knowing exactly what happened and letting it slide.

Yes, my last name is pronounced exactly as it's spelled. Just like "going to the store". ;) I am an aspiring writer currently working on my first novel, which is GOING to be awesome once it's published. (See what I did there?) I love reading, am a HUGE film buff (who welcomes all trivia challenges), and never miss a New York Giants football game. I'm an open book so if there is anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask.
