10 Bold Predictions For WWE Draft
8. SmackDown Wins Big
It is no coincidence that changes have come to Friday Night SmackDown after their debut on Fox. And that includes the start of this draft falling on Friday Night SmackDown.
This will lead to a large migration of some of WWE's bigger stars to the blue brand. Names like Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Brock Lesnar and more will likely go to SmackDown. Consider it WWE's investment in SmackDown to match Fox's two hundred plus million investment in the same program.
This will get played up massively on commentary as well, with Cole likely praising what a haul of talent SmackDown has gotten and how they "won" the draft. After all, if they are going for a real sports-style draft, one of the main components in that type of coverage is who got it right and who got it wrong.
This will not be a full on loss for Raw however. To keep with the sports comparison, think of this more as a one-sided trade than a team losing their roster to free agency. There will be a bit of a give and take from both sides.
Wrestlers who have begun a push that hasn't materialized are a good start. Aleister Black was on Raw picking a fight(-ugh) with the Singh Brothers, so he may put up a new door in that neighborhood. Ali and Buddy Murphy would also be allowed to breathe as well. Reports are that Heyman is high on at least two of those three.
But Raw may not be the only brand having to sacrifice talent to the Fox executive gods.
