10 Bold Predictions For WWE Draft
3. General Managers Return
One of the biggest questions left unanswered to this point is a massive deal: who will be making the picks for the two brands?
WWE has the potential to go for the ratings grab here and bring The Rock in for SmackDown and Stone Cold in for Raw or something similar to that effect, but that would be a wasted opportunity.
This is the perfect time to reintroduce general managers into the mix. With Shane McMahon fired and nobody seemingly involved in the role on Raw, the floor is wide open for some big name GMs to come in. No Vince, we don't want Hornswoggle again. Think (for lack of a better word) bigger here.
Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff seem like obvious candidates due to their real life roles running the show but that again feels a bit TOO obvious to have an impact.
For Raw it would make sense to reach into the names (not Baron Corbin) who filled that position. But Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Kane, or John Cena would be good ideas to give the position the needed name power.
As for SmackDown, those same names would do but if they CAN get The Rock for more than one appearance, that would be best case scenario. After all, he recently said he was done in the ring but still referred to SmackDown as "home".
Do with that wild speculation what you will, but WWE would be wise to spend whatever it takes to make that a reality.
