10 Booking Directions Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2017

Will Cena and Roman's beef spill over into real life?

Unbelievably, we're just less than a month away from WWE's annual summer extravaganza, and the card is, slowly but surely, beginning to take shape.

This week Kurt Angle dropped the bombshell (no, not that one) that Brock Lesnar would be defending his Universal Championship in a super-mega-big-man fatal four-way against Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun Strowman.

We also know that Natalya will challenge Naomi for the SmackDown Women's title, whilst Bayley will get another shot at its Raw counterpart.

But SummerSlam is supposed to be much more than a show filled with great matches (of which at least two of the above promise to be); it's also the place where big things - genuinely, earth shattering things - go down. And on one particular occasion, a glamorous wedding.

That's why everything is still very much up in the air. Between mounting tension in the Raw women's division, social media back-and-forths and the continued fall-out of Angle's long lost son, there are so many possibilities as we head into the final few weeks of build-up.

And here are ten of them.

10. Cena Saves America

Jinder Mahal versus Randy Orton has ran its race (in fact, it died a slow and painful death inside the Punjabi Prison).

The pair have now fought three times on pay-per-view, and - with SummerSlam on the horizon - it's high time the champion found a new challenger.

The most likely booking direction would be one that sees John Cena, fresh from a win over Rusev, step into the role of number one contender.

The 16-time champ has been feeling extra patriotic lately, and a feud with Jinder - another anti-American heat machine - would be an obvious fit.

It would also be an opportunity to get the title back onto a baby-face, in turn bolstering Money in the Bank holder Baron Corbin's cash-in prospects.
