10 Booking Directions Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2017
5. Randy Orton Heel Turn
SmackDown is desperately short of top-level heels at the moment, and while Orton was given a big push as a fan favourite earlier this year, you fancy that he's the most likely to turn (particularly now that he's, presumably, done with Jinder Mahal).
An Orton-AJ feud looked to be on the cards earlier this year, only for it to be put on ice amid more pressing booking openings. And given that both the Viper and the Phenomenal One look to be out of the title picture going into SummerSlam, we could finally see it given the two- or three-month run it demands.
Would Orton have to make a turn? Not necessarily, but the ex-WWE Champion has never seemed entirely comfortable as a face, and it would give him a shot in the arm after jobbing to Jinder for the better part of three months.
