10 Booking Steps For WWE Raw (May 16)

7. Rusev Destroys Kalisto

Kalisto's time as WWE United States Champion is surely coming to an end. The masked man has been a decent placeholder for the title, but that's also been part of the problem. At no point have WWE really got behind him as the champion, title defences against Ryback on pay-per-view Kickoff shows don't count.

With John Cena coming back, it makes sense to imagine that he will gun for Rusev and the United States Title. Those 'U.S Open Challenges' Monday Night Raw experienced frequently in 2015 were awesome, and that may be the perfect way to use Cena again once he returns.

For now, it's important to wipe Rusev's loss to Sin Cara on last week's show from memory. WWE corrected their error on SmackDown by having Rusev demolish Kalisto's tag-team partner, and there should be more of the same come Raw.

Rusev should not be made to look weak, he's the dominant one to Kalisto's underdog. On Raw, that really needs to come across before the pair meet at Extreme Rules for the title.
