Throughout the years, the Royal Rumble has consistently been one of the best opportunities for legitimate surprise appearances and mark-out moments for fans. The Rumble offers the ultimate one-shot appearance for a former superstar/legend to excite the crowd. Knowing that this is always a possibility helps build interest in the Rumble as well. With this years Rumble being contested for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, it would stand to reason that many would want to enter the Rumble for a shot at the title. This includes major stars who havent competed in WWE for some time (Rob Van Dam), NXT stars (Finn Balor, Samoa Joe), injured wrestlers (Daniel Bryan) and others who would seemingly be out of left field (AJ Styles). But as of right now, its just the rumor mill on the internet. If WWE were to hint at a few major surprises for the Rumble, wouldnt it spark some serious interest and encourage fans to order the WWE Network to see who enters? Maybe a hint would help spike subscriptions.
