Backlash spoilers incoming. Two thirds of the group formerly known as 3MB have tasted gold in WWE since their break-up. Drew McIntyre is the other third.

The Scotsman is far more gifted in the ring than Mahal and Slater, utilising his talents to build a successful run outside of the company. Now that he has returned though, McIntyre is unlikely to be as wildly overlooked as he was during his previous stint. That means that he should be considered within touching distance of the NXT Title picture.

It could be argued that McIntyre's star has risen beyond the developmental brand. If he agreed to come back to NXT, you can bet it was on his terms. Those terms most likely included a guaranteed NXT Championship opportunity.

McIntyre vs. Roode offers an intriguing main event match-up, but before that, McIntyre needs to properly reintroduce himself to the WWE fans. The last time they saw him, he was air-guitaring alongside the new WWE Champion. That said, it surely won't take long for Drew to show the WWE faithful what kind of competitor he has developed into since his last run with the company.
