10 Most Confusing Wrestling Gimmicks Ever

9. The Godfather

What the Gimmick Was: A friendly pimp. Why it€™s Confusing: The Godfather act wasn€™t the first time that Charles Wright had a confusing gimmick in his wrestling career. A few years earlier he was the evil voodoo priest Papa Shango. Somehow he could make his opponents vomit at will, and even made The Ultimate Warrior bleed green blood. That€™s some talent! How could he ever possibly lose with those skills? While you can at least rally against a guy using dark magic, it€™s hard to understand what the WWF was going for when they pushed a babyface pimp. Pimps, by their very nature, usually aren€™t regarded very highly in society. After all, they offer the sexual services of women to men who have enough money. While it€™s confusing as to why fans should want to cheer a pimp, it€™s even more confusing why he was never arrested. The Godfather openly admitted he was a pimp and even offered his €œhoes€ to his opponents on national TV. Now that€™s just not right. What happened to the spirit of competition? By the time Godfather left WWE, he ran a €œlegitimate€ escort service on SmackDown, but it€™s a wonder how the man still isn€™t in prison to this day.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
