Conor McGregor has provided more catchphrases and memes for the MMA community than he has fights, and not many were more iconic than immediately after his knockout of Marcus Brimage on his UFC debut. Looking directly down the camera during his Octagon interview with Kenny Florian, McGregor taunted Dana White to give him the $60,000 knockout of the night bonus by shouting, “Hey Dana, 60 Gs baby!”
The MMA world instantly took notice of the brash, young Irishman with devastating power in his hands, more charisma than anyone in UFC history and a love for cold hard cash. Throughout the years McGregor gave the world more iconic quotes like “F**k the Mayweathers”, “Red Panty Night” and the timeless, if not over-exposed “Who the f**k is that guy?”
If McGregor hadn’t approached his early UFC fights with such confidence and brazenness, he would have likely been lost in the shuffle of young fighters that don’t quite break through to the next level. At least not in the short time that McGregor did. As the man once said after his rematch with Nate Diaz, “I’m not surprised…”
